Avon On-Boarding - Rise Up!

The gift giving holidays are coming and people will be ready to shop. Now is the time for you to get ready to begin your Avon business and take advantage of this great opportunity to make money while others are spending it. I mean, who wouldn't want to shop from their seat, not their feet, if given the opportunity? You can give them that opportunity!

I mentioned in a blog post recently that Avon will be changing the On-Boarding program for new representatives in September. Since September is fast approaching, it's time to give you a few details about what this means for you if you begin your Avon business on September 16 or after. 
First of all, I still don't know what the new kits will contain, only that there will be three options available to you and you choose from those depending on how much you want to invest in your business from the get go. You can read more about those options in my post from a few days ago

Second, Avon will have order incentives that will allow a new representative to make more than $1,000 in their first 90 days just by putting a little effort into their business. Take a look:

$1000 in 90 Days with Avon

  1st Campaign - order $150 in product - earn   $ 60.00
  2nd Campaign - order $200 in product - earn     80.00
  3rd Campaign - order $250 in product - earn    100.00
  4th Campaign - order $300 in product - earn    120.00
  5th Campaign - order $350 in product - earn    140.00
  6th Campaign - order $400 in product - earn    160.00

During that same campaign, mentor 3 
people who turn in a $50 order each and
earn $50 for each of them - earn                          150.00
Total earned at the end of 90 days                   $1010.00

And those are just the basics! There is more money to be made if you orders are larger, because you will be getting 40% earnings on all sales if you meet the target goals shown in red above for each campaign. That includes fixed earnings products that established representatives will only be making 20% or 25% on and all direct delivery orders at your online eStore. Pretty amazing, isn't it?!?

What can you be doing right now to get ready to start your business on September 16? Go ahead and make a list of the people you know who will be interested in ordering from you. Add to that list every day as you think of new people. Next, look at that list to see which ones you will contact about being the first members of you new team. Don't just choose three, but pick as many as you think would like to or need to make more money. Now that you have those, look at the remaining names on the list to see who works in an office where they can distribute a few Avon books and gather orders for you and put their names on a separate list to be your "Helpers." 

With those three lists in place, you will be in a perfect position to begin on September 16. If you get too excited about having your own business to wait, go ahead and start today! There are already great incentives for you now, including 40% on your first four orders of $100 each. Best Buys of the Campaign 19 Brochure. We're gearing up for Fall!

I hope all of you are well. I've been spending a bit of time at Crestwood Hospital lately with my parents, because my mama is dealing with heart arrhythmia issues. She had a catheter ablation yesterday and will have a pacemaker installed tomorrow, so I plan to be up there again soon. We are hoping that after this surgery she will be feeling much better and life can get back to normal for her. She is turning 83 in October, and my daddy turns 89 in December, and they have been in pretty good health most of their lives, but age catches up to us all if we live long enough. Here are a few more tips from the old file I found, plus a new tip:

 "I like to wear 10 shades of nail color-one color per finger- as a live demo to show customers how they look. It always makes for a fun consultation and encourages business." 

"I recycle old brochures by putting a sticker on the front that says 'This is a sample brochure. For a current brochure, please call me at...' "

"I offer all first-time customers a 10% discount. That's a very attractive offer in this economy and can encourage first-time buyers to put in a larger order."  (This would be a good idea for new representatives trying to meet the $100 goal in their first campaigns.)

"I like to wear 10 shades of nail color - one color per finger - as a live demo to show customers how they look. It always makes for a fun consultation and encourages business."

New Tip: This is useful for us and our customers. Lisa Monoson shared in a video that the best way to get the shrink wrap plastic off of Glimmersticks, mascaras, etc., is to take the product in both hands and twist it as if you are trying to take the top off and the plastic will pop along the perforation and remove easily. I haven't tried it yet, but it sure will save some frustration if it works.

A Change is Coming to Avon On-Boarding!

Change. It can be good, or it can be bad. Sometimes it can be both good and bad - depending on where you stand and how it affects you. But change happens, because it's just a necessary part of life. Today I'm announcing a change in the Avon "on-boarding" program, and some will think it is good and some will think it is bad. Personally, I think it is good, and I will explain why after I explain what is about to happen.

Over the past few years there have been several changes to how people are appointed to be Avon representatives. At first we had to meet with every person we wanted to add to our teams and appoint them in person. More recently we were able to either meet with them in person, or they could sign up using our code (mine is SMOORE) at Now the time has come when ALL appointments will be done online. It will still be fine, and even encouraged, to meet with new team members to get acquainted and talk about the business, but the appointment itself will be done on the internet and the new representative's kit will be shipped to them by Avon. Since we add team members online, we can add them anywhere within the continental USofA, so there are team members we will never meet in person. For those team members, all forms of social media will become our tools for getting to know our team members. 

So that's a pretty big change, but another change comes with it. People have been able to begin an Avon business for only a $15 investment, with the option to order a $35 kit or a $100 kit if they wanted more product and more tools to get their businesses started. Most representatives have chosen to just order the $15 kit. Starting on September 16*, that $15 kit will no longer exist and someone wanting to begin their Avon business will have these three options:

  • $25  Quick Start Kit
  • $50  Advanced Kit
  • $100 Premium Kit
 We have not yet received word on what those kits will contain, but you can rest assured that I will let you know as soon as I know. I am confident that the value of the kits will be much more than the cost.

Now, why do I think this is a good change?  Because $15 is too small an amount to invest to begin a business as wonderful as Avon! It's too small an amount to invest to begin ANY direct sales business. I feel that if you have invested $25 or more in your business, you are much more likely to do your level best to make that business successful, because you will want to earn enough to pay for your kit at the very least. That means contacting customers, making new friends, letting everyone know you have a business and you mean business. Once you have done that and built a solid customer base, you will want to keep going, and you will truly become a Cloud Climber!

Greetings Potential Avon Representative!

In which quarter of the year do you suppose Avon representatives make the most money? I imagine if you think for just a moment you will realize the answer would have to be the 4th quarter, since Christmas comes at the end of it, and if that is your guess, you are absolutely correct! There are 26 Avon campaigns in a year so the last 6 or 7 of those would be the 4th quarter. We are now in campaign 18, so 4th quarter begins in about a month. Can you believe we are that close to the Christmas selling season?

If you want to be ready to make money with your own Avon business when all of America is starting to spend money more freely, now is the time to get your business started and get your customers lined up. Once they start seeing the great items we will be offering this year, they will be looking for Avon representatives, and you don't want them to find someone else before you find them.
