Alabama Snowpocalypse!

From UrbanDictionary.com:

Snow + apocalypse = snowpocalypse   When weathermen predict large amounts of snowfall in a short period of time.

That's what we had yesterday here in north Alabama, and was it ever fun! The snow started falling softly about 3:00 p.m. and it snowed until around midnight. By the time it stopped, we had close to 6 inches in our area, and friends nearby had over 8 inches. Here is part of the view God blessed me with this morning.

The beauty of an Alabama snowfall is that its visit is short and sweet most of the time. Work and school stops for the most part, because we don't have the heavy equipment down here to keep the roads clear, since it would not be worthwhile to invest in it for the rare times we have heavy snow. So pretty much everyone stays home for a day or two and we can enjoy family time and snow play, or just enjoy snow viewing and snow cream eating. Of course, we know northerners who suffer through a lot of the heavy stuff laugh at us, and that's okay. We sometimes laugh at ourselves. And yes, we really do buy up all the milk and bread at the local stores. I saw proof of it yesterday at our new WalMart Neighborhood Market. :)

So, I've been busy enjoying the snow, mostly through my windows, while catching up on some reading, sewing, working a bit on those dreaded taxes, and looking at my friends' snow pictures on Facebook when I wasn't enjoying my own. The snow on the roads has melted now, so it's back out I go tomorrow.

Well, look at that. I wrote a whole post without even mentioning Avon. Oops! Now I've gone and done it. But with good reason, because there is a FREE SHIPPING code good until the end of the day on Saturday if your order for direct delivery from my website is at least $25. The code is WINTERFS, so be sure to enter that as you check out. If you want to see some of the best buys right now, check my blog on the website or here.
