Does Avon do animal testing?

Many people today are rightly concerned about the use of animals to test skin care and makeup products. Avon is also concerned about this issue, and has been for over 20 years. You can read more about their commitment to producing safe products with safe ingredients without animal testing here

C7 Cloud Climbers Unit Newsletter

Last week I told you about an incentive Avon did for Leadership reps., and that I had met my goal thanks to all of you. I was required to have a total of 75 orders from my downline turned in for campaigns 5 thru 7, and 36 of those orders had to be $100 or more. By the time the deadline ended and we rolled to Campaign 8, I actually had 82 orders turned in with 56 of them being over $100!! That is wonderful, people! Shana called me as the time was about to run out and said that I was the closest of all the Leadership reps. in 1139 to reaching my goal. I hope that others reached theirs as well, but I'm so proud of all of you for keeping your businesses going so that I met mine. We haven't added any new Cloud Climbers in awhile, but we've not been losing them either, so that helps. We have 44 in our group right now. Meeting the goal means that I will get an extra Leadership check in just a few weeks. Getting the extra money is great, but what makes me feel best is knowing that I have reliable people in my group who keep working steadily along. Like I've said more than once before, "slow and steady wins the race." Be dependable and your customers will depend upon you and you will keep their business!

We had a total of 27 orders turned in, out of 44 reps. If you are one of the 17 reps. who did not turn in an order for C7, I hope you are working hard on C8. I know a few of you regularly skip campaigns because you are mostly just personal buyers, but if you have customers...well...I covered that in the first paragraph of this newsletter. :) Spring is a great time to get out and meet new people, always carrying an Avon book with you to offer them as you get acquainted. It is not being "pushy" to offer a book when you tell someone what you "do" as you are exchanging information about families and jobs. I carry one sticking up out of my purse when I am out and about, and make sure that the top of the book is visible to those I am passing. I also wear a badge or a shirt with Avon written on it when it is suitable for the occasion. Just a few days ago I finished my shopping at WalMart and was getting a sandwich at the Subway there when a man eating in the restaurant walked up and asked "Do you really sell Avon?" because he saw my shirt. He asked for my card for his mom, because her Avon lady had recently retired, and I was able to give him the brochure from my purse. Thanks to the sales of all you good Cloud Climbers, I was #5 on the Unit Leader Board for the Athena Division the last time it was posted! Speaking of "last time" that will be the last time for me to appear anywhere on that board for now, since we have gone "virtual." I know that doesn't mean a lot to most of you, because most of you have not been attending the sales meetings, but I've attended sales meetings regularly for 30 years now, so it is a big change for me. So, yesterday was International Day of Happiness, and today is National Fragrance Day. I tried to spread a little happiness yesterday, and today I am celebrating National Fragrance Day with an Avon offer. One of the incentives that Avon has going right now is for Unit Leaders and above to get their bonus checks for C5 doubled if they meet certain goals set by Avon. My goals were to have 75 people place orders in campaigns C5 thru C7, and to have 36 of those orders be over $100 each. You have done so well in the past two campaigns that I have 45 orders already that are over $100, so that goal is surpassed already, with one campaign to go. However, I have not met the 75 orders placed, as there are only 56 so far. So, I need your help in C7, as I need at least 21 people to place orders this campaign! Will you help me by making sure you get an order placed, no matter how small? I have confidence that you will, so thanks in advance!

Be sure to take note of the special deal on lipsticks in C8. You will earn 50% on every 5 lipsticks ordered, so just be aware of that when placing your order. It could be that you will want to add another one to an order that is short so you will get the higher earnings. Choose a color you like or one that you know a customer buys regularly. It's also a great time to check back on your customer orders through the Web Office so you can know who orders lipsticks and be sure to let them know about the 5 for $20 offer. I had a customer add to her order yesterday to make sure she was getting 5 lipsticks and would get the better price.

I haven't added any one to our team lately, but I hope to accomplish that goal tomorrow night by getting my customer, Mary S., started with her business. Anytime you are ready to start working on building your team, just let me know. I know that Susanne Walters is actively looking for representatives for her team, but I'm not hearing from any of the rest of you. Susanne and I will be working a booth together in April, so any recruits from that event will be hers.

Avon has long had a 100% satisfaction guarantee which has read as follows: "If you're not 100% satisfied you can exchange or return any item and get your money back." Beginning now (C7/March 2015), our return policy has changed a little and now reads: "If you are not completely satisfied, return any item with 90 days of receiving it and get your money back. View Avon's full 90-Day Return Policy at"

So, be sure to try your products or look them over well as soon as you receive them to be sure they are what you want and they work to fit your needs. If you are ordering items to give as a gift, look those over as well, just to be sure that everything is as it should be.

Are you ready to make your mark.?

Have you heard talk about mark. and wondered what that was all about? I wrote a blog post earlier about some of the history of Avon and mark. is a part of that history. In 2002, Avon launched beComing and mark. as two new branches of the business. beComing started as a collaboration effort with a couple of big name department stores that have beauty counters. Avon was to have the beComing line of skin care, makeup, and fragrance in the stores and Avon representatives who were part of Avon Leadership were to be the sales persons at the stores. They would also be able to appoint representatives at the counters. Those plans did not work out, but beComing was kept as a separate line that Avon representatives who had been trained as Beauty Advisors could sell, and Avon kept the beComing line of products for a few years before discontinuing it. 

mark. was begun as a brand for young women to be sold by young women, with "Meet mark." and "Make your mark." as the first slogans. An individual had to be 18 years of age to become an Avon representative, but only 16 to become a mark. representative. Those who were Avon representatives could also sell mark. products. If a person was signed up as a mark. representative only, the business was run in a different way and there was specialized online training for those younger representatives. It was a great way to introduce the younger women into the world of entrepreneurship, give them extra spending money, and teach them how to handle money the smart way. mark. products were so successful that the brand continues today, although Avon no longer has the separate mark. opportunity for those younger than 18. A few mark. products are now incorporated into the regular Avon brochure, and there is also a separate "magalog" for mark. products only. New mark. products are introduced on a four week cycle rather than on the two week cycle of the other Avon products. Be sure to check out what mark. has to offer here. While the products are geared to the younger generation, many older customers have fallen in love with them as well. The Lemon Sugar fragrance line is a particular favorite of one of my older customers.

I've been looking at some incentive tracking in my Downline Manager, and I saw some interesting info. The reports show the percentage of times each of you turn in Avon orders, and I see that only 16 of the 44 of you place orders over 75% of the time. I'm wondering if that means that the customers of 28 Cloud Climbers are having to wait a long time to get their orders. I know from experience that my own customers are good about waiting on items that are on backorder, but most of them would not be very understanding if they had to wait several weeks for what they needed just because I didn't plan on turning in an order. In fact, I have picked up customers myself because they were not happy with the service they were getting from their representatives. Please don't let your customers leave you for that reason! On the upside, I see that the following people average placing orders 100% of the time:  Carolyn King, Barbie Breen, Gladys Faulk, Darren Mannahan, Shelia Porter, Brenda Taylor, Sharon Tibbs, Susanne Walters, and Sharon Wells. Way to go, Climbers! Consistent Activity = Consistent Income. It's no wonder that many of these reps. appear in the top ten in sales quite often.
