Avon Signature Collection

In the world of Avon, the "4 A" symbol stands for Anytime, Anywhere, Always Ask. When you are in any kind of direct sales business, you must be proactive to get your name out to the people you meet and let them know how your products can be of benefit to them. If you are also building a team of other sales representatives, you need to let them know that you are a mentor for your chosen business and tell them the benefits of building their own direct sales business with your company

Over the past couple of years, Avon has introduced many fashion items under the Signature Collection brand name, and new ones are being added regularly. Here are a few combination looks that you can create with Signature Collection pieces and other Avon products. The prices and campaigns of introduction are included with the pictures.

Spring into Summer!

Spring is always a time of new beginnings and quite often we want to step out of our comfort zone and do new things like:

1. Get a spring haircut,

2. Wear a new bright color of nail polish,

3. Get playful with colors on our eyes, lips, and cheeks, and/or

4. Take a good hard look at our skin and decide we want to look younger.

I can't help you with the haircut, (although I have given quite a few of those to family members in my time), but I can make recommendations in the other areas.

Nail Enamel: I understand that Blue-Greens are in this spring and we have Speed Dry Enamel in Turquoise Pop and Fast Time Teal to fit that trend. Or maybe you prefer something a little more conservative, but still bright and fresh like Strawberry or Mambo Melon (my personal favorite).

Eye Shadow: For a basic look, two shades will do, so shop from our True Color Eye Shadow Duos. You can have a little more fun with one of our True Color EyeShadow Quads. OR...you can go all out with this great Hawaii Five Oh! color palette from mark.

Lipstick: We have several options in this category -- including Beyond Color Lipstick. Try the shade here, which is Bitten, or one of the other 14 shades available.

Skin Care: Now is the time to make sure you have a product that will protect your skin from the summer sun. I personally love Anew Clinical Skinvincible Multi-Shield Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation for daily use, this product will not feel heavy or greasy and does not have a strong sunscreen smell. I think you will love the satiny feel of your skin after you use it. Be sure to also get the Anew Clinical Skinvincible Deep Recovery Night Cream to heal your damaged skin while you sleep.

Bug Guard...The #1 Summer Essential

It has been many years since Avon introduced their first Bug Guard products under the Skin So Soft brand name*, and they are still an important tool in the arsenal against those nasty mosquitoes and other pests that we must deal with each summer. The product line has been expanded and improved upon and is completely DEET free. Bug Guard is one of the products that most representatives stock up on, because when the bugs come you want to be ready.

The ingredients in Bug Guard (IR3535 and Picaridin) are recommended by the CDC for protection against the Zika virus. Here's a handy guide to the products in the Bug Guard lineup, to help you decide which ones are right for you.

I'm planning to do a post about fundraising with Avon soon, but you might be interested in doing a Bug Guard Fundraiser for your organization this summer. Here is the flyer showing the options available. Please get in touch with me if you want more information about Avon Fundraising now.

*Can you guess why Bug Guard was put under the SSS brand name? I was never told why, but I think I know why, and you may know why too. If you can't beat the "powers that be" sometimes it is best to just join them. ;)

My C11 Newsletter for my Team

Greetings, Cloud Climbers!

This has been a very busy campaign as far as additions to our team goes. In the past few weeks we have added an even dozen new Cloud Climbers!!  I'm so happy to have the following Representatives now on our team and I hope they all have much success. Three of them are on the Top Ten in Sales least for this campaign, so they are already working hard. Several are due to turn in first orders in Campaign 12. My goal is to add 100 new team members before the end of the year, and we are off to a great start. Welcome to our team, Cloud Climbers!

 1. Kim Mitchell, Olive Hill, Tennessee, who has come to Avon for the second time.
 2. Kristi Strode, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
 3. Jessica Martinez, Forestdale, Alabama, who was in our top ten in sales last campaign.
 4. Alisha Edwards, Birmingham, Alabama.
 5. Gladys Hale, Boaz, Alabama.
 6. Sheila Benz, Thompsons Station, Tennessee.
 7. Amaleia Ruble, Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
 8. Stephanie Crosby, Oxford, Alabama.
 9. Jerita Pennington, Decatur, Alabama.
10. Angelique Ortiz, Huntsville, Alabama.
12. Tonya Caldwell, Nashville, Tennessee, rejoining Avon just this morning.
13. Sheilia Smith, Birmingham, Alabama, who was added to the team as I was typing this newsletter. I just spoke with her and she said she was a representative in Ohio a couple of years ago.

Top Ten in Sales for C11 - all with Award Sales over $150.

 1. Gladys Faulk
 2. Rene Parker  PC
 3. Darren Mannahan
 4. Susanne Walters
 5. Ruby Nunnery
 6. Kim Mitchell   NEW
 7. Steffanie Erdelt
 8. Angelique Ortiz  NEW
 9. Maria Loza
10. Kristi Strode  NEW

Congratulations to those earning Avon Awards since my last report. Steffanie Erdelt and Ruby Nunnery each won a cosmetics case in the C5-C8 130th Anniversary Sweepstakes. I don't even remember this incentive, but apparently there were 10,000 winners and they were among them. :) Also,Jessica Martinez received 25 points in the PRP New Rep. program and Kristi Strode got the 2nd Campaign Sample Bundle for having an order over $100.

Those with Direct Delivery orders in C11 were Sheila Benz and Angelique Ortiz - both new representatives.

I hope that you are reading the Representative Insider News and all emails that you receive from Avon, because there are lots of new things happening right now. By now everyone should be aware of the free shipping for all orders placed through YA until midnight on May 31, so there is no excuse not to turn in an order for C12. I hope to see 100% participation!

All of the new Representatives on our team came through the ALMA program that Avon has for distributing leads to qualified Leadership representatives. I mentioned that system in my C9 newsletter, but what I didn't tell you is that I am now purchasing leads through ALMA. Since most of you have not been doing any work with Leadership, you have probably not looked into the ALMA program, so let me explain a little more. Regular Leads mostly come to Avon from those who are searching around on the internet for direct sales businesses and fill out information in some form or fashion. Many of them are not really interested in Avon businesses, and you can chase them around for 14 days (the time Avon gives you to follow up on them) and never get anywhere. Premier Premium Leads, the ones you have to purchase, contact Avon more directly and are considered to be more likely to be serious about starting an Avon business. There are no guarantees that they will get started, however, the chances of them doing so are better. So far I have purchased 20 PPLs and 12 have become Representatives. Several of the others are still thinking about the business or planning to start soon. So, for my part, purchasing PPLs is working out very well.

Now, here is where you come into the picture. In past years I have had up to four generations of Cloud Climbers and I would very much like to work toward having at least two generations by the beginning of 2017. That means that I need one or more of you to dedicate yourselves to beginning teams, with my assistance. When I purchase PPLs, I have the option of delegating some of those leads to members of my downline who qualify to participate in the ALMA program. You can read all about the requirements to participate in ALMA through the link under "Sales Leadership" on YA, but here are the basics.

So, very basically, you need to have two representatives under you, making you a Star Promoter, and go through the online ALMA training before I can delegate leads to you. If you think that is a goal you would like to push for, please let me know so that I have an idea of who I need to be working with to set OUR plans in motion. We can brainstorm about ideas of how to meet the qualifications, but I need to know that you are interested first.

That's all for now. Don't forget that Consistent Activity = Consistent Income, and don't forget to TURN IN AN ORDER FOR CAMPAIGN 12 AND GET FREE SHIPPING ON IT!!!  :) :)

A Few Tidbits of Good News from Avon for Avon Representatives

You know those sayings about Murphy's Law (if anything can go wrong, it will) and the best laid plans going awry? Well, Avon Representatives have been seeing those sayings come true over the past couple of weeks.

Avon, being the leading home-based business that it is and wanting to fully support its representatives, who are the lifeblood of the business, is constantly trying to improve the Avon Representative experience. Upgrades needed to be made to YourAvon.com, the site where we conduct our businesses, so upgrades were made. Uh oh. Big UH OH. There were glitches, there were crashes, there were times when the site just would not work or moved so slowly orders could not be placed on time. Many representatives were frustrated, Avon's IT department was working overtime, and Avon Corporate was doing all they could to work through the problems. They added on extra helpers so orders could be placed over the phone, they posted apologies for delays and asked for patience, and then they made an unprecedented offer to show just how much they wanted to make it up to the Representatives for the issues that happened. Here's part of the email we all received. Pretty cool, huh?

So, that was great news, and means a little extra unexpected money to keep in our pockets. Issues with the site are still being worked out, but there are no excuses for any Representative not to have an order for the rest of May. And the upgrades to the site will be worth the hassle in the long run.

There was even better news to follow for Avon Representatives just starting their businesses. Take a look at this!

And this!!

That 40% discount is equal to 40% earnings on the products. And in case you are wondering about the meaning of "all qualifying" sales, it refers to all beauty products such as makeup, skin care, bath and body, Bug Guard, fragrance, and jewelry, which are our core products.

There truly has never been a better time to begin your Avon business, and you can do so in about 5 minutes by going to smoore.avonrepresentative.com/opportunity/start. Have your debit card handy so you can pay the $15 fee for the kit. Yes, $15 is all it takes unless you want to purchase a larger starter kit. Do it today, and I'll be in touch with you as soon as you do to give you all the information you need to get your business up and running even before your kit arrives.

A Few Suggestions as You Begin Your Avon Business - New Cloud Climber Email #3

This is the third of my emails sent to my new team members to provide information and advice as they begin their businesses.

Good afternoon, _____!

I hope your day is going well and that you are already working and studying in order to have a successful business as an Avon Representative. Here are some tips and suggestions for you as you begin your business.

1. Take the training under Avon University!! I cannot over emphasis this, because that training will answer almost all of your questions about getting started, placing orders, managing money, printing invoices, etc. I can explain things to do, but the training can show you how to do them. See tip #5 for more on this.

2. Taxes on the products you order are charged to you based on where you live, not where your customer lives. If you do not know your local tax rate, go to www.zip2tax.com and enter your zip code in the "Look Up The Tax" bar. You do not have to register or log in to do this. When your first invoice arrives from Avon, look to see that you have been charged at the correct rate. You can set up your invoicing system for customers in the YA Web Office to charge the correct tax on printed invoices.

3. It is not required that you use the Web Office to print invoices, as you can use the free order books you can get from Avon under Supplies, but if you enter your orders under the customer names the system will save all invoices for a year and you will be able to have a record of what customers ordered.

4. Be award of the Hot Points as you get ready to turn in your orders. If you are near a hot point, you may be able to add a small item or two to your order and actually pay less for the order, thereby earning more. I am attaching a file with the hot points so you can print it if you like.

5. Know your products. Skin Care sales have the greatest potential for building a solid business, so take the skin care training as soon as you can. Let your customers know that they can sign up for Auto Replenish of their Anew skin care regimens to get the best prices and free shipping. You will find the information you need on that by looking at your eStore under Skin Care.

6. Consider using Helpers in your business. A helper is someone who takes one or more brochures to their place of business and collects orders for you. Most of my helpers asked me if they could be my helpers, and I also let my customers know they can receive 20% off of their own orders if they become helpers. It is up to you to work out the system you will use to thank your helpers, but most reps I know do the discount on orders - 20% on core products and 10% on fixed earnings products. If a helper just brings me one other order, I give them a 10% discount on their own order. I do not pay my helpers anything and they make no profit off of the orders they give me. If a helper wants to make money, they need to sign up as one of your team members!

7. If you would like to promote your Avon business with Avon logo merchandise, click the heading "My Community" and look to the bottom of the page under Avon Advantage and then Town & Country. There are a lot of things offered, including business cards. You can also print your own business cards or book labels under the Avery heading there.

8. Look at all the different links on the YA home page to see what is being offered and news that will benefit your business. Read the Representative Insider News which you will find under Tools & Info on the YA homepage. This is updated every Friday evening.

9. You get one free shipment of returns per month, so you can save your returned items for a couple of campaigns and return them all at once. You use the Process Returns link to do returns or exchanges and they must be done within 120 days of purchase. The Avon guarantee says that customers have 90 days to do returns, and then you have an additional 30 days to get them back to Avon.

10. Keep good records of all your expenses, including how many miles you drive to do any Avon work, so you can report those on your income tax at the end of the year.

11. Manage your money wisely, especially if you have received a credit limit with Avon. (Some reps. have one, others do not, and whether you have one or not is determined by several factors when you are appointed.) Make sure that you do not spend the money you receive from your customers before paying Avon what you owe. None of us want you to go "bad debt" with Avon. That is not good for you, me, or the company. If you have credit and miss getting your payment in, Avon will hold your next order for 10 business days. If your payment is not received, the order will drop from the system and a $10 late payment fee will be added to your account. If payment is not received within the next 10 business days, another $10 fee will be added, and a third $10 fee will be added 10 business days later. If payment is still not received, your account will be marked "Inactive-Delinquent" and will go to Accounts Receivable.

If you think of something that I should cover with new reps. but have not included in any of these emails I have been sending you, please let me know.

Thanks for the hard work you do!

Getting Started on the Right Foot - New Cloud Climber Email #2

Getting Started on the Right Foot

When a new Avon Representative joins my team, I send a welcome email with a short video, because most of my new team members have not met me, as they appointed themselves online. A day or two later I send a second email with some suggested activities to help them get started as they wait for their kits to arrive. Here is a typical email:

Good morning, _____!

Now that you know a little about me and you have had time to look around at youravon.com (hereafter referred to as YA), I want to be sure that you have some basic info to get you off to a good start.

The most important thing to remember is that customers drive your business. Of course, you know that is the case, but I just want to emphasize it from the get go. :)  The two ways to make more money from customer sales are by 1) getting more customers, and 2) getting your customers to buy more Avon.

1) To get more customers you need to start with your "warm market" which would be every one you know. A good way to do that is by looking in your cell phone contacts list and writing down those names and numbers and then call, text, or email each one to give your "30 second commercial." A 30 second commercial is what you want to say to someone to let them know you are now an Avon Representative, to ask if they would like to receive Avon brochures from you, and to let them know about your eStore. (You want everyone to know about the eStore, even if they are local, because some people prefer to order online for Direct Delivery from Avon even if you could easily deliver to them.) Don't stop with your warm market, however, if you plan to build a business rather than just a hobby. Wear Avon logo apparel, wear an Avon button, carry an Avon book sticking out of your purse, put signage on your vehicle, use business cards, etc., so that you are promoting yourself everywhere you go. It is very easy to bring Avon into the conversation when you meet new people. Simply ask them what they do for a living and then tell them what you do. If someone shows interest and you give them a brochure or your eStore link, get their name, phone number, and/or email address so you can check back with them later, which leads to....

2)  Getting customers to buy more Avon can be done in several ways. First, make sure that you check back with those you have left brochures with a couple of days before you are turning in your order to see what they need. I will help you with this by providing a reminder email each campaign which will highlight some of the best buys in the brochure. You can cut and paste it to fit your needs and either email it or use it when making calls to highlight products that are on sale. I will mostly list "core" products, which means the items you get full earnings on, not fixed earnings (watches, shoes, clothing, etc.), such as makeup, skin care, bath & body, and fragrance. These are the products that people will run out of and have to replenish, so getting customers to purchase these items will give you repeat business. You can also try to do "add-on" sales, such as recommending a lip liner if they purchase lipstick, an eyeliner if they purchase eye shadow, etc. Since this is your business and you are not employed by Avon but are an Independent Avon Sales Representative, you can offer your own specials any time you want. You might want to offer a free gift with a certain size order, which can be a low cost item such as lip balm, mini hand cream, or shower gel. If you decide you want to do a sale one campaign, such as 10% off all orders of $50 or more, you can do that. I have used the 10% off sale for every order placed in a campaign when I was trying to meet a sales goal.

You probably know by now when your first order is due, but you may not yet have your schedule of orders for the year, so I am attaching that to this email. I also want to make you aware of the people out there in the cyber-world who will attempt to defraud you. When you sign into YA, look under "My Account" near the bottom of the page to see "Fraud Alert" and read all about this. Here is the beginning of what Avon has posted to make you aware of what these crooks try to do. I will not tell you that you MAY get one of these fraudulent contacts, I will tell you that you WILL get one of these contacts, and you will probably get several of them. You will quickly learn to recognize them if you are prepared in advance.

I'm posting this pic to show you what my job as your Team Leader is. Please contact me if I am not giving you the help you need, because I want to do my job well so we can both be successful.

The last thing I want to encourage you to do is always let your customers, friends, and family know that if they are interested in becoming an Avon Representative, you can get them started in their business. Don't think "I don't want them to sell, I will lose a customer!" because it is possible that they will decide to become representatives and, not realizing you can get them started, will go online and start themselves under another rep. and then you have not only lost a customer, you have lost a recruit. You do not want that to happen, and I do not want that to happen. If you begin to build a team, I will work with them just like I work with you. Anyone can be added to your team simply by going to startavon.com and using your code as the reference code. Your code is whatever is after the / in your eStore URL. For example, mine is "smoore." If you don't know your eStore URL, go to YA and choose Web Office and then look to the right where it says "Your website address is:"

I'll be in touch again soon. I hope you have a great week.

What's Happening with the Cloud Climbers? C10 Newsletter

See what my team is up to now. We'd love to have you as a team member, too. Click here to become one, or contact me for more details. There's also a tab on this page that will give you information about the Avon business.

Hello Cloud Climbers!

I had to deliver my spring fundraiser order to various places in Huntsville today and take care of several other deliveries from C10 orders after that, but I'm staying up late to get this newsletter out as promised. The Cloud Climbers also grew by two new team members today, and I'll have more to say about them in the next newsletter.

Top Ten in Sales for C10

 1. Steffanie Erdelt
 2. Susanne Walters
 3. Rene Parker  PC
 4. Ruby Nunnery
 5. Callista Motter
 6. Gladys Faulk
 7. Cassandra Brown
 8. Darren Mannahan
 9. Carolyn King
10. Jessica Martinez

Congratulations to Jessica Martinez for making the Top Ten for our team in her first Avon campaign, and for getting 40% earnings on her order as well as a packet of samples. Great work, Jessica!

I took a look at Carolyn King's Facebook Business page today (or was that yesterday?) and "Liked" it. I can't remember if I have seen business pages for any of the rest of you. If you have one, please let me know or invite me to like it. Carolyn's page was recommended to me in the side bar as I was doing something on FB, and I think that was the first time I knew about it, although she has had it going for awhile. In fact, I saw some pictures she had used that I don't remember seeing before, so maybe I need to hear some tips from her. Speaking of which, I was already planning to ask in this newsletter that some of you who work full time jobs (like Carolyn) in addition to your Avon businesses, give some tips that I can share with the other Cloud Climbers in a future newsletter. I have never worked a full time job while being an Avon Representative, so I haven't had to coordinate the two. Let us know what things work best for you, who you sell to, are you allowed to sell at work, etc.

Those celebrating May birthdays are: Ruby Nunnery (5/20), Steffanie Erdelt (5/27), and Jessica Martinez (5/29).Avon Anniversaries being celebrated are: Maria Loza (5 years on 5/9), Yvonne Lassiter (15 years on 5/19), and Darren Mannahan (4 years on 5/19).

Receiving an Avon Award recently was Steffanie Erdelt. She is now a PRP Contender and received 100 points added to her account. There were three Cloud Climbers with Direct Delivery sales in C10: Kristi Strode,Virginia Washington, and Darren Mannahan. Keep promoting your eStores, because you never know when someone may decide to order in that way and you want all your customers to know their options. One of our Cloud Climbers discontinued her business and went back to being a customer of mine a few months ago and I was quite surprised when she let me know she did not know how the Direct Delivery system worked. That means that the entire time she was selling Avon, she was not promoting her eStore to her customers, even though I have always encouraged it. Now that she is not selling, she is finding that Direct Delivery is her preferred choice for ordering. And we now have a great new Social Media App that lets you post to your preferred Social Media very easily. If you haven't taken a look at it, please do. You may have seen this info in an email from your DSM, but I want to make sure you know about it. If you take credit or debit card payments from your customers, you no longer have to submit the paper credit card forms to Avon, saving yourself a stamp. This is a blessing to me, because I have often been lax about getting those forms sent in promptly, which is not good business practice. Now we can just call FAST Talk (the number is on your invoice), and say "Make a payment" or press 2. Make sure you have all the information you need: CC number, expiration date, security code from the back, billing zip code, and payment amount.

Rene Parker and I enjoyed a great PC Tribute at the Marriott on Tuesday of this week. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of Rene at the tribute, an oversight that I have already apologized to her for. You may have seen some pictures from the tribute already if you are on the FB page for our district, but many of you don't use Facebook and some are not in our district, so here are just a few pictures. I was pleased to receive two Silver awards for second place in Sales Increase and second place in Total Sales for District 1139. I think next year's tribute will be even better than this one, and I hope to see more of you there. All you need are total sales of $10,000 in one year, so push toward that goal and join us next year! Three of us at our table won door prizes, and mine was the crystal dresser set in one of the pictures. As you can see in the pic of me holding my trophies, I have the wireless laptop under them. That's because the three of us traded our gifts around and I got the wireless laptop to use with my iPad mini that I earned from Avon a couple of years ago. Yay! The other gift traded was a set of nice headphones. We had "Let's Make a Deal" going on for awhile there and everybody ended up happy!
